Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What can I experience and learn at your place?
Everyone staying here can learn and experience as much as they open their mind and hearts. Everyone and everything is a teacher, and every situation is an opportunity to gain knowledge and wisdom. We can learn from a flower, from the Butterfly passing by, the Bird flying in the sky, the Ant, and each human we encounter. We offer a more natural lifestyle and a more harmonious way to live and eat without using and harming animals, learning about native plants of the Amazonian jungle, and natural and spiritual approaches for healing, with no cell and electricity towers around, not using water and electricity from municipal sources. Also, here we speak english, spanish, and some portuguese, so anyone can practice those languages with us. There are some knowledge that we have gain in our journeys and we can be happy to teach on donation, free share, or a mutual exchange with you, those topics could be about yoga, meditation, spirituality, book writing, ayurvedic medicinal massage, veganism, vegan cooking, divine anarchism, past live regressions, palmistry, natural holistic healing, spiritual coaching, etc. Even though we appreciate the silence and singing of Nature and the animals, music is welcome here. If you play an instrument, we would love to sing and play together. We also love dancing, especially ecstatic dances, instrumental, salsa, electronic, and many other types.

What kind of facilities do you currently have at your place?
At this stage, we live pretty minimally, rustic, and simply. Currently, we have a small shared camping site for guests and volunteers with tents and all the basic items such as a comfortable mattress, pillow, blanket, and sheets, a place to hang clothes, a squatting compost toilet, and a large barrel where rainwater is collected to drink and shower (during the rainy season). There is currently no official communal kitchen yet, but an area with a small table, a few chairs, a bench, and basic kitchenware. Aurora and Michael have a small cabin, and this has some facilities if one wants to prepare cooked vegan meals. There is currently plug-in electricity from solar panels in our cabin, which will also be installed in the camping site very soon. We have fiber optic internet, with a few hours daily for use. So, as of now, we only have the two facilities, the shared camping site and our private cabin. They are simple and small, but cozy, and everyone does their best to keep them as clean as possible. We expect people to keep their areas tidy and wash their dishes and kitchenware after using them. Most of our land is just Nature jungle mountains with rivers.

How large is your land?
Our land totals nearly 22 hectares, divided into several sections by rivers, streams, mountains, and access roads. We are currently developing a small area near the road called Tierra Libertad (Freedom Land), which is approximately 2–3 hectares and is itself subdivided into several smaller parcels.

Do you have electricity and internet at Peaceful Village?
We have 3,000 watts of solar-generated electricity on one section of Tierra Libertad and are extending power to other areas. Ultra-high-speed fiber optic internet is available at the main hub, currently delivering 300 Mbps (we’ve tested higher speeds). Wifi is active at the hub, and soon we will install wired ethernet across the land to reduce wireless radiation and provide more reliable connections.

How will devices connect to the wired network? All internet-capable devices must connect using a usb–ethernet adapter (that we supply) connected via a usb‑c or usb‑a port. Modern mobile devices should use usb 3.0 (or newer) adapters for best speeds, and computers should use 1 Gbps ethernet ports. Many lower-end phones and tablets only include usb 2.0, which limits upload and download performance.

We are choosing ethernet over wifi because it lowers rf (radio frequency) exposure, delivers predictable high speeds, improves reliability, and simplifies troubleshooting compared with wireless connections. To ensure security, all connections will be protected by a firewall and NordVPN. Devices and network equipment will have up-to-date firmware, strong passwords, and device whitelisting as appropriate. Network segmentation (VLANs) will separate guest traffic from internal systems. For best performance, use adapters that support USB 3.0+ and ensure laptops have gigabit-capable Ethernet ports.

Would you like that I bring something you need to your place?
Thanks for asking! As a starting project, we need many things: we appreciate seeds (non-gmo), plants, books, gardening tools, musical instruments, etc. You can check our website where you can find a list of items to donate.

Are there any dangerous, poisonous animals at your community? What about mosquito issues?
We live in the wild jungle, so expect animals to be around, like Ants, Wasps, Bees, Cockroaches, Lizards, Black Aguiti, various birds, Moths, Butterflies, Snakes, Spiders, Scorpions, other insects, and even Jaguars (though we haven’t seen any large wild cats here yet). Even though nonhuman animals, except for Mosquitoes and Gnats, don’t have the intention to attack anyone, except mistakenly or if provoked, animals like Snakes, Spiders, Scorpions, Ants, Wasps, and others, some of them who are here in the Amazon, who are supposedly the most poisonous in the world, may bite. We just need to be aware and mindful wherever we walk and work. Don’t be afraid of nonhuman animals, but be calm, observing their beauty and uniqueness, and giving them their own space; otherwise, they could bite if they see we are in fear. We’ve been meters and even centimeters away from Snakes, Spiders, and Scorpions, even where we worked, without any of them deliberately attacking us. From our observations, it seems that many animals are curious about humans, and some of them, like Grasshoppers, Crickets, Cockroaches, and other small critters, observe and listen to what we are saying and even like listening to certain types of music we play. Many of them are afraid of us, but some are calm and go about their business as usual without paying much attention to us, as they feel or intuit our good energy and intentions. We shake all clothing before putting them on and never put our hands anywhere without looking first.

On our land, we have a low occurrence of Mosquitoes and Gnats in the communal areas, but it seems there are a bit more Gnats in certain forested areas and, at times, sometimes a bit closer to the rivers and roads. This is great, because as we both traveled to different parts of the world, we noticed that in some of those places, there were more flying biting insects like Mosquitoes, Gnats, Sandflies, etc., that attacked, and sometimes they were so unbearable at times.

Humans believe that Cockroaches only live in cities, but this is not true! They also live in Nature. There are many Cockroaches of different sizes here who are very friendly and don’t bite. They are normally nocturnal creatures, but they can also come out during the day. Sometimes, if Cockroaches, Moths, and Grasshoppers are frightened, they will run or fly away or come towards us, especially if we have a light on them during the night. All these animals are very gentle and feeling beings. We respect and love all creatures, and that is why we do our best never to intentionally kill or harm anyone, unless we need to defend ourselves or our buildings. We saw many Grasshoppers and other animals who did not feel threatened by us, and they even walked on us. Often we have to be very mindful where we step or sit so we don’t hurt small animals who may be amongst us in our dwellings.

Ants are the masters of the jungle and every forested area of the world! There are countless Ants on our land, and most of them are very friendly and harmless, coming into our cabin, and tent, and at times, love to eat our food, especially fruit that is getting ripe or moldy. There are even some who bite hard, including the Conga/Bullet and Raider Ants, but of course, just like other animals, they only bite humans when we accidentally or intentionally harm them. So we need to be mindful of our surroundings and where we walk. In certain areas, when there may be swarms of them at certain times, we avoid going to those areas.

Is there anything else that I should know about you or your place?
Yes. We are very susceptible/allergic to strong smells of any kind from smoking, Marijuana, fires, detergents, perfumes, deodorants, soaps, essential oils, or any other chemically scented items. Please don’t use any of those things here. We only use fruits like Lime, Lemon, Avocado, Orange, Banana, Plantain, etc., to wash ourselves, instead of using chemicals. We appreciate it if people wash themselves properly if they are sweaty or dirty before using any of the facilities, like the tent, bed, and hammock. We have many Luffas to wash our skin properly instead of using artificial and polluting sponges. If one has a bad odor, instead of using toxic chemical deodorants, use Lime or Lemon on the underarms. Please do not bring any chemical products to our land, as we respect Nature and anyone else who may also be very susceptible or allergic to strong chemical smells, even if the product was brought from a “natural health store” or how natural/organic the product claims to be natural or organic. If one wants to wash their clothes, they can do so with Lime or Lemon.

Here, both of us, Michael and Aurora love hugs and warm human interaction, as we understand that all of us are brothers and sisters, children of Love and light. Some people are shy or introverts who prefer not to hug or have human touch like shaking hands, etc, as we see them as people who need healing and more love, we are fine with those kind of personalities too.

We bless the new day in the morning before we start working, our food before eating, and the night before going to bed, through some gratitude prayers. We don’t belong to any religion; therefore, our words are not directed to any God, but to ourselves, to our fellow humans, plants, the animals, to the astral bodies, and in general, to that conscious energy that moves in the infinite Cosmos. We would love people here to join us for the gratitude words, at least in the morning. We frequently do morning group meditations as well, and would like to make this a habitual practice together with anyone who would like to join in.

Despite that, we love our privacy and our private space, we also have the community spirit where talking, spending good times together, and sharing and contributing to each other’s growth, well-being, and happiness is our way to be and live. Some afternoons we would love to take the time to be with you through different activities like sharing circles, tea ceremonies, watching documentaries, language exchange, singing and playing instruments, playing different games, hiking our jungle mountains, swimming our rivers, having picnics, dancing, etc. On other days we prefer to be quieter in our cabin.

Please respect Nature by not throwing garbage around and not using any chemical products. Here the climate is very hot and humid, and therefore, bonfires are not permitted, so that the forests don’t catch fire.

For the most part, this is a tropical, sunny, warm environment. We love to be naked in our place to breathe from our entire body and receive the sun’s rays on our skin. People can walk around naked most of the time; however, it is still advisable to bring some long warm vegan clothing (clothing not made from wool, suede, silk, fur, feathers/down, leather, etc.) as sometimes it can be a bit cooler when it rains or during the night and early morning.

Just to reiterate, this is a clothing optional community, and we encourage people to be nude and barefoot as much as possible, to be free of restricting clothing and experience the healing wonders of the sun, rain, rivers, and grounding with the Earth. There is nothing wrong or shameful about being naked. Here, no one sexualizes anyone, and we respect everyone’s sovereign beautiful body temple.

We also consider ourselves and this ongoing community project as divine anarchists; we solve our problems by ourselves from our hearts, using non-violent communication as a tool and tapping into our higher levels of consciousness. We never call the police, judges, or government officers to solve our issues through their violent and unconscious methods, so we expect you to be fully responsible and capable of solving any probable issue with us without using external entities like those mentioned above. Also, as much as possible, we are not involving the pharmaceutical industry in our lives; we take responsibility for our own health, pain, and diseases. Don’t expect to call ambulances or bring doctors here. If you need drugs, doctors, or surgeries, you need to go out by yourself without involving us. Here we are more into natural and spiritual approaches for cure and healing.
